My Story
I’m Prameesha Abeysekera, a contemporary artist based in Calgary, Alberta- Canada.

A few freak accidents helped intimately acquaint me with the world of pain in movement. A search for fluidity in how I move day to day has greatly influenced my need to paint fast and loose, seeking dynamic motion on paper when it evades me in real life.
My hands dance on the painting surface as I live in memories- of the strength of a horse beneath me as I took a jump, dancing till my feet hurt and spinning in giddy circles as a child.

My work is all about movement and emotion — splatters, swirls, and layered gestures that explore how energy flows through people, animals, and landscapes.

My background in graphic design (BA in Graphic Design: New Media) taught me the value of experimenting and merging different types of media to get unexpected results, inspiring me to find my voice merging inks with anything that lays close by including sticks, feathers, traditional tools and my hands. .

My work has been exhibited in England, Canada, Dubai and Sri Lanka, including shows at the Al Fares International Equine Trade Fair in Dubai; Calgary Public Library, Framed on Fifth, The Art Market, Calyx Distinctive Arts, and the Calgary Stampede’s Miniature Masterpieces Gallery in Canada, Final Year Show, Soho- England and at Geoffrey Bawa’s Lunuganga, US Ambassador's Residence, Galle Fort Printers, and Lionel Wendt Gallery in Sri Lanka.
